 Hancock County has been Upgraded to Level 3 - RED: Very High Exposure and Spread                  

  • The 50 North Building will be closed
  • The 50 North Fitness Center will be closed
  • 50 North Activities & Fitness classes will only be offered virtually
  • Curbside Meals, Mobile Meals, and Grocery Delivery will continue
  • Chore Services and Housekeeping will continue
  • Outreach Services will continue

Governor DeWine issued a Public Health Order closing Senior Centers on March 12, 2020.                                                                                                                50 North has continued to provide seniors :

  • Delivered 12,457 mobile meals to 171 different seniors
  • Served 4,734 curbside Café pick-up meals (new program since COVID-19) to 267 different seniors
  • Delivered 261 orders of groceries to 49 different seniors
  • Completed 931 chore services to 272 different seniors
  • Build 16 ramps for 16 different seniors
  • Provided housekeeping 494 times to 58 different seniors
  • 605 seniors engaged in fitness activities in person or on ZOOM
  • 524 seniors participated in activities in person, on Zoom or FACEBOOK
  • 4,831 seniors received a phone call from 50 North staff to check on them to see what their needs were due to COVID-19
  • 1,383 seniors received 5,535 social services for our social workers including services such as:
    • Finding housing and securing financial assistance from local charities for moving expenses
    • Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) application assistance
    • Medicare assistance, saving seniors thousands of dollars in drug and medical expenses
    • Assistance in applying for Medicaid and SNAP benefits
    • Connecting seniors with local food resources and helping to bridge the gap by delivering food boxes
    • Assisted seniors without water obtain $5,000 worth of plumbing through partnering with USDA and Habitat for Humanity
    • Assisted seniors with obtaining Emergency Response units
    • Assisted seniors to find help for paying rent, utility bills in partnership with local charities
    • Assisted seniors with connecting to Area Agency on Aging, the PASSPORT program, Find A Ride, DISH program, Farmer’s Market, etc.
    • Calling seniors on the daily check-in call program
    • Sending seniors cards, giving them games, care packages, and other items to let them know they are not alone
    • Connecting seniors to local community services like the Alzheimer’s Association and services at The Family Center

50 North serves the at-risk population as defined by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and continues to work with the Hancock Public Health department following the guidelines of the CDC and local, state, and federal authorities.
